Canon HF M40
The Canon HF M40 is the latest mid-range camcorder from Canon. With the same risky new sensor, this impressive bargain has great low light performance and a plethora of manual controls.
Panasonic HDC-TM90
The TM90 is one of the most affordable consumer-level cameras to offer full 1080/60p HD shooting. We put the camera through its paces to see how much it has improved over last year's models.
Sony HDR-PJ30V
The Sony Handycam HDR-PJ30V ($959 MSRP) seems like your average mid-range HD camcorder—until you notice there's a built-in video projector on the back of the camcorder's LCD. The projector is far from perfect, but it could be a valuable tool for those who want to recap their footage without the presence of an HDTV.
Canon HF R21
The Vixia HF R21 is Canon's newest entry-level HD camcorder and it's designed as a replacement for last year's HF R11. The camcorder comes with 32GB of internal flash memory, two memory card slots, and a new touchscreen interface on its 3-inch LCD.
Sony HDR-CX160
The Handycam HDR-CX160 is a small, entry-level HD camcorder from Sony that retails for $499. The camcorder is an update of last year's HDR-CX150, and we were impressed by the additions and enhancements Sony made to the new model, which include a 1080/60p record mode, 30x optical zoom lens, and a 3-inch touchscreen LCD.
Samsung HMX-W200
The Samsung HMX-W200 is a compact and waterproof budget camcorder that showed us some impressive results in our testing. The camcorder retails for around $159 and can take 5-megapixel still photos in addition to recording Full HD video.
Kodak PlayFull Ze1
The Kodak PlayFull Ze1 is a tiny camcorder with the ability to record Full HD 1080p video. In addition to being one of the smallest camcorders we've ever reviewed, the PlayFull's $129 price tag also makes it one of the cheapest.
JVC GZ-HD620
The GZ-HD620 is a mid-range HD camcorder from JVC that records to an internal 120GB hard drive as well as offering a MicroSD card slot. The camcorder is low on frills, captures high-quality video, and has a reasonable price tag of $649.
Samsung HMX-H200
The Samsung HMX-H200 is an entry-level camcorder that offers 1920 x 1080 Full HD video recording with a price tag of under $400. The camcorder doesn't have a load of controls or features, and it did run into some problems in our low light testing, but it does offer decent performance and good value with its bargain price.
