What would the best way to capture video from a DV300 to an external harddrive. Also is there any mods to the stream adapter to use the 802.11 card to capyure better quality video than it does.

I dunno about the Streaming ability - never used it.
As far as using the firewire, you can capture straight onto a PC/laptop harddisk easily - most standard capturing utilities let you... just make sure you put a tape into the camera, and click record in the capture utility controls.
If you don't want to use a PC or laptop, then you could use a Citidisk DV to capture your footage... I've never used one, but am looking at getting one (or similar) - these are basically external harddisks with some firmware that allows you to record a DV video stream onto harddisk.

Only trouble is that the internal battery only lasts for 30 mins... but if you've access to power, then chuck in an 80GB harddisk and you're able to record over 6 hrs of DV quality footage - straight onto harddisk, no recapturing and no fiddly tapes (oh, and no tape noise!).
Anyone out there used these?
