I have a gy dv5000U camera. I am noticing a greenish, sometimes greenish/yellowish tint when I use the manual white balance. I noticed this after an outdoor shoot the other day. I had manually white balanced the camera at 5200k using a white card and the picture was less than pleasing with a greenish look.
I did a little experiment the next day using the 5600k preset, a manual white balance (which again came up as 5200k) and the FAW setting. When switching between the 5200 manual setting and the FAW, there is a noticable difference with the 5200 setting having that green tint and the FAW looking very good. Should there be such a noticeable difference between a manual white balance and the FAW? And if so, shouldn't the manual look better? Well, it doesn't...it looks awful.
I have had this camera since the first of the year and almost every shoot I have done using manual white balance has resulted in having to use color correction in the edit process. I'm beginning to wonder if there is something wrong with the camera. Anyone have any thoughts on this?
My previous camera was a Sony DSR-300a. I could trust the white balance on that camera without thinking twice. With this gy-dv5000, I'm not liking what I'm seeing so far.
