View Full Version : Back up battery for my Panny 120

stingray_on
I read the threads on the back up battery CGA-DU14 that most people bought through Ebay at ridiculous prices.

ARe you still happy with the back up battery and most importantly can I use the recharger that came with my camcorder to recharge the DU14?

TIA

well I never bought batteries off e-bay and have not gotten a CGA-DRU14 battery. I did however buy third party batteries,

Digital Concepts BP-DU21 (2100mAh
Energizer ER-C535 (1400 mAh)

Both charges on the charger that came with the camcorder and have had no problems in almost 6 months use. The only true Panasonic battery that I have is the VSB0470 that came with the camcorder.

It took awhile for the third part batteries to perform well and in every charge they get better and lasts longer even with LCD use but I could never get the actual claimed 4 hours out of these batteries. They last from 45 min to 1.35 hours without using the QUICK START and not zooming a lot but with LCD. They lasted longer with the use of the EVF only. Nowadays I rarely shoot continously so turning on and off might be a big factor in their charge life when in use.

Lastly I got both of these batteries at $90 bucks each (now they cost less) and would buy them again since the Panasonics batteries are hard to find.

I just received a "brand new, factory sealed" Panasonic CGA-DU14 battery that I ordered on e-bay (from Hong Kong) for my PV-GS35 camcorder. It appears to be the real thing, the packaging and battery all look like a real Panasonic battery. I charged it up, and used it to play back video for over 2.5 hours straight (with the LCD screen open).

Total cost, including shipping was $25, and it arrived in 12 calendar days. So far so good!
