View Full Version : TRV950 on a microscope

I'm using my TRV950 on a trinocular microscope. I use this to record interesting histology cases. I'm hoping for some help to optimize the image output. I'm using the camera in automatic mode because I really don't know the manual controls very well. My wife uses this mostly for video of the kids. When I use it on the microscope I attached it to one eyepiece and look at the slides through the other two. I have it zoomed, almost to maximum, to avoid vignetting. My primary difficulty is adjusting the brightness level of the video. When I attempt to increase the brightness on the microscope lamp, the video will noticeably dim. I'm assuming that the camera is trying to compensate for a light level that it perceives to be too high. Can anyone suggest settings that will optimize the video quality. I would be most grateful.

the simple way is to choose manual control of the cam and then adjust it using the small dented wheel at the bottom of the rear panel of the cam. Variations in light will show on the cam screen this way, no compensation will be performed.

Hi ,

When I record the sound is very very soft even after I clean the head with a tape cleaner.

If plays sound find if I put in a tape that was recorded a while back.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

back to manual operation again : use the vu-meter on the cam (sound montioring -manual control) and you'll see the record level. Only if the level is decent there can you blame the cassette or inner circuitry ; if not (flat level on vu-meter), your mike is at fault : try another external mike.
