capturing issue

my DVX100a just came, and I've hit my first technical snag. Everything went well recording in 24p, experimenting with depth of field, etc., but when I went to capture the video onto my computer, I kept getting error messages. I'm using Vegas 5, and I'm not having a problem capturing with my old Panasonic, just the DVX. I have it in VCR mode, but Vegas still says it has to be plugged in, or to check the power, setting, etc. Is there some setting on DVX that I need to be aware of when capturing?

I greatly appreciate any help on this! I've looked all through the manual and a couple of websites, but have found nothing. Maybe this is a question for the Vegas group, but because it captured fine with my old camera, I thought I'd start here first.

Look over your manual carefully and make sure you have it in tape playback mode and not the download stills mode. Also, you might want to read this white paper (http://mediasoftware.sonypictures.com/download/step2.asp?DID=511).
