View Full Version : Trouble capturing video with multi-channel audio

GJC
Hi,
I have recently purchased a Sony DCR-HC90 Camcorder with the ECM-HQP1 4-channel surround sound microphone. Importing to my PC via firewire. I need a software solution that will be able to capture the video while also recognizing the 4-discrete audio channels so that I can ultimately burn this information to a DVD in 5.1 AC-3. I'm aware of the "Click-to-DVD" Vaio software will accomplish this, but I don't have a Vaio. I've tried Roxio VC 7 and Pinnacle Studio 9; neither of which will recognize or encode anything but stereo audio?!?!?!?. My options seem to be either the purchase of a Vaio PC or to send the HC90 back, take the 15% restocking fee hit, and purchase the new Sony DVD403 unit with the on-board surround mic and DD 5.1 encoding. This is extremely frustrating, please help. My head hurts

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

See http://www.camcorderinfo.com/bbs/t109424.html. If I remember well there is a solution by making use of some sofware that is able to capture the 2 stereo channels (2 x 2).

Hello,

I found the brand of the software:

Some suggestions but I don't know if it will work on a Mac: compatible with 4-channel audio are Let's edit (Canopus) or Scenalyzer live (www.scenalyzer.com). Once the avi (and the 2nd wav) is on the computer You can edit the file with Studio 9 (Pinnacle). The surround module makes a Pro-Logic format out of it.

Henk
