I was on the point of buying a new GY-DV5100 when the dealer (who states on his website that they're available from stock) announced he had no stock (does this sound familiar?).
Rather than take a different model, I looked around - and a different (reputable) dealer offered a used GY-DV5000 with 100hrs. It's in excellent condition, is a really good price (with 14x Fujinon, batteries and charger) and 12 month warranty - all for 2550 GBP.
(UK price of the 5100 is 3995 GBP ex batteries).
Should I go for the 5000 and save the cash - or are there any issues with it that are going to drive me to wish I'd spent the extra money on the 5100?
The dealer has offered 1200 GBP for my Sony PD170 (200hrs).
My problem with the PD170 is that it's virtually impossible to focus accurately (as a Commercial Photographer, I know what I'm talking about on this score). I'm not particularly interested in 16:9 but I'm curious and a little wary of the stampede for HD.
Any informed input would be appreciated - thanks.
