View Full Version : After market batterys are they any good?

;) I have a SONY HC1000 and am really enjoying the results it produces. I have been thinking of buying an extra battery but the retail cost in New Zealand is NZ$249 which is I feel over the top. I have seen several after market batterys on the net and would like to hear from people that have maybe bought one and any brand recommendations. The one I need is the NP-FF71.

Save your money for a SONY battery.
One of mine is dead on arrival and it was what I was "power sold" when I bought the camera. It might as well be a demo mockup of a battery.

CORRECTION!
The camera doesn't like to charge anything too different from an Infolithium but it will take it no problem, after it is charged in an external charger.

My theory is if you can afford such an awesome camcorder  you should be able to afford the real batteries. You can always find them cheaper through online shops. My experience with Sony is this....use the Sony stuff and you'll have no problem. The camcorder is designed to use the npf series. Use anything else and you always have that reliability factor. :)

Agree entirely with SonySS.
If you can afford to get an HC1000, then buy the proper original-equipment accessories.
you wouldn't buy a Ferrari and put the lowest-octane petrol you can find into it..
