View Full Version : Help!! Can not connect my Sharp ViewCam Z VL-Z3U Through FireWire

AV8R_AZ
Hello All,

I am having serious problems connecting my Sharp VL-Z3U using firewire. My Sharp VL-Z3U did not come with a firewire cable so I went ahead and bought an IEE1394 firewire card. The card came with a firewire cable too. The card installed ok on my computer without any problems. It also came with Ulead Movie software. I installed the software and it asked me to connect my camcorder in with the firewire card so that it can install the appropriate drivers. I connected the camcorder with firewire card (with camcorder off, the usual camcorder setting for USB connecting) but Ulead did not detect it. Now, I am not sure what to do. I really need to download the movie on my computer but this damn thing is not working. The firewire card is working fine (as per the status from window's device manager). Does anyone have any clues ??

I would really appreciate your help.

have you tried this...

After you connect the camera to the computer.

Turn the camera on to player mode and the (windows xp) computer should immediately recognize the camera.

I'm having the same problem.

I installed my firewire card, installed Ulead VideoStudio 10
Rebooted.

Connected my Sharp ViewCam Z ZL-Z3U using the DV port to my firewire card.

Turned on the Sharp ViewCam Z ZL-Z3U viewcam into Play mode.

Launched Ulead Video Studio 10, and it would not detect the ViewCam at all.

I am able to connect the ViewCam using the USB port, to transfer my pictures, but can't transfer anything using the video.

I running Windows XP SP2 - latest updates / patches.

Trying to get a response from Sharp technical support is like trying to resurrect a King tut.
