View Full Version : Measuring light in architecture

nxT
Hello all,
I am not a great photographer and this is why I am posting this thread. I am interested in doing architecture interior photography. I just became familier with a light meter. I got the idea that to get a flash reading is by firing the flash head. What I am confused about is as follows:. I read an articale where a photographer describes that he exposes for the ambient lighting and compliment with flash light heads on points of interest in the forground and therefore noth foreground and background are in good exposure. If I need to expose for ambient, lets say f11 at 2 seconds, how do I modify the flash (assuming using the light meter) to this type of exposure? Is it when using multiple strobes the idea is to get the flash meter to give you exact flash exposure readings for all units? I hope these questions make sense and am not sound stupid by asking it.

Thanks,

Dennis Vogel
Your questions aren't stupid but most of us here work with video not still photography. You may get an answer since some of us got started in photography. But it's been a while and I, for one, never graduated to the point where I needed a light meter.

I'm not saying you won't get an answer here; just don't be surprised if you don't. Have you tried a site devoted to still photography?

Good luck.

Dennis
