View Full Version : DV300 RCA Input

Hey, I've got a DV300 and I was just wondering if there was a way to run video in through the RCA outputs. I have an old Sony VX3 which is 3ccds but analog. I have some video on there that I wouldn't mind capturing, and if I could do it through my JVC it'd help. My old D8 camera was stolen last year. I ask this as I know there's a way to do it on Sony VX1000s, and then I wouldn't have to go and find another way of capturing it.

The RCA outputs on the DV300 are outputs only. They cannot be used as inputs. The firewire is both input and output. I have used the firewire as an input when outputting from a computer. I don't know if there is anyway to output from another source to the DV300 using the firewire. You may have to digitize the analog camcorder's output and pass the digital signal to your computer through the firewire and then output from the computer to the DV300 through the firewire. Another option would be to connect the analog camcorder to a stand-alone DVD recorder. The recorder will digitize the incoming signal.

some cheaper consumer digital cams have analog in and can convert it. Maybe you could borrow someones. Also you could get a standalone analog to firewire convertor if you want to use the jvc although they are about $150. These are popular for those who want to get everything to dv into their computer or cam for editing (including audio) and don't want to jump through hoops.
