Can't find a thread on this...
Anyone know how to display timecode or other info on XL1's analog video out or s-video out. Thanks for the help!

To display Time Code on your TV, the XL1 must be in VCR mode and then using the remote control, point it to the back of the camera and press the "On Screen" button. One push turns info display on, second time turns it off. The only way to reset the Time Code in the XL1 is to put in a new tape. If you NEED time code on your tapes for accurate editing, then it's important that you don't wind up with time code breaks, or the numbers resetting to zero several times on one cassette. This can happen if you remove and re-insert the same cassette during the course of shooting. There's an easy way to keep your time code consistent no matter how many times you power down or remove the tape. Just make sure you SHOOT a few seconds of video at the end of every shot (called "post roll"). Then for the next shot, use the Review Button and cue the tape to start recording a few frames before the end of the previous shot. By starting each shot just before the break point of the prior shot, you keep CONTINUOUS time code on the whole tape. This info was taken from an article by Chris Hurd titled Not in your XL1 Manual: Color Bars & Time Code. The article is on the net. Just search for Chris Hurd.
