View Full Version : Which cassette is the best?
powerfulideas
Am shooting on DVX100A and plan to go in for reverse telecine. Is it ok
if I shoot on a Panasonic master mini-DV? Or should I be using a digi
beta cassette? Would it make a difference?

I'm confused.
How can you fit a digi beta cassette into a DVX100A mini-DV camera? It would be like putting a Mack truck engine into a Mini Cooper. Obviously it's not going to fit.
If you're asking whether to shoot digital betacam as opposed to mini-DV and transfer to film then the digi beta option is a much better one as digi beta has no where near the compression used for Mini-DV. For a start, digi beta cameras come standard decent lenses and with 2/3" CCDs as opposed to 1/3" CCDs, so image quality is going to be much more superior.
Buena Vista Social Club (Dir : Wim Wenders) was shot on Digital Betacam and transferred to 35mm.
