Hi, when I capture moving footage on the above mentioned camera the edges of the moving object or person appear frayed and slightly hazy. Any movement from left to right or up or down. This becomes even more pronounced when the avi file is compressed into a wmv or mpg file, the edges of moving people or objects become frayed. The problem definately lies with the camera and not the compression settings as I've tested compression with a different camera. I've had the camera 2 years and it never used to do this, the problem is fairly recent. Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

Do the administrators reply to these messages or is it anyone that knows about the subject. I posted the above question nearly a week ago and haven't received an answer!

Click85, these are open forums for anyone who can help others in camcorder related discussions.
Your description of the problem does not seem common and does not seem related to dirty/clogged heads. A frame grab of the artifact might help someone identify the problem. You stated "The problem definately lies with the camera and not the compression settings as I've tested compression with a different camera." and I can only assume you would notice the recent problem. There is not much else that can be done with camcorders except perhaps try to reset the camcorder. You may be having an electronic failure beginning or perhaps a tape alignment problem beginning. You may have to take the camcorder to a shop that can test it.
