I wonder if you have seen this issue with XL2s.
A spot that is recorded but not seen in the viewfinder while recording.
Here are two freeze frames to illustrate the issue I am having – and have had since I bought the XL2 new 18 months ago.

When I first took the camera back to canon within weeks of buying it they said the spot – which they saw on a recording – was a spot of rain. I agreed as there had been a little light rain the day I recorded that footage.
Then the camera lay almost unused for the best part of a year as I worked on an editing project. In recent months it has been put to work and now it is out of its warranty and the ‘spot' issue is back.
When looking at the first picture, put your finger on the screen over the spot. Now click to the next picture – the spot is in the same place.
Your thoughts would be much appreciated. The lense is as clean as a whistle.
