View Full Version : PC120 vs PC330

JimQ
Hi,

When faced with being able to obtain either a used PC120 or PC330 relatively cheap, which would be the better option?

I've seen in many reviews/opinions that the PC330 is quite poor in low-light (indoors etc) - did the PC120 have similar low-light performance?

Did anyone here upgrade from a PC120 to a PC330 and have any thoughts on this? I'm not really interested in the still photos ability, just good video (indoors, outdoors) and good connectivity.

Thanks,
Jim.

I'd go with the PC330 hands down. It has higher resoltuon stills (1 megapixel vs 3.3 megapixels) for when you do use it to take occasional stills. It is one of the better Sony cams in low light. Better than a TRV20 which is the same generation as a PC120. The PC330 has the laser hologram low light assist focus and microphone jack which were dropped in the next year's PC350. It get greats colors. The LCD can be seen in bright sun-light - an real improvement feature over the PC120. The PC330 remains to this day, the cadillac of the Sony vertical cams.

Thanks for the info Chrystie,

I think I'll jump for the 330 as it seems a bit more functional than the older 120 and more modern. I guess the problem with going for older cams is that modern cams can up the benchmark, but older cams can still be a steal for the right price, especially when you compare what you get for a similar price in a modern cam. (ie: 2nd hand top-end cam vs new low-end cam).

Many thanks,
Jim.
