Hi everyone! I've received much friendly help from this forum before, and I am grateful. It's time to replace the on-camera battery that came with my purchase and I have two questions.
The current battery I have, a Panasonic CGR-D16, has a switch at the bottom. Does anyone know what that switch is for? Could the setting of the switch be responsible for the very poor performance of this battery (30 min of life or less)?

They list makes and prices but don't tell you how long they're supposed to last for, probably to stave off accusations of lying, which is wise for them but not helpful for the buyer (me).
