View Full Version : Most cost effective headphones to use for monitering

Budgieboots
Hi,

I was wondering what the most cost effective headphones were to use for audio monitering - I will be using either the mounted stereo microphone or connecting straight into a sound board through XLR cords.

I would be taking a rock concert.

Please help me - time is of the essence!

In my opinion the most cost-effective choice are the Sony MDVR-150 headphones. They are cheap (you can usually find them for under $20), but they feature the same type of padded earcups as Sony's more expensive phones, which really helps to shut-out outside sound.

Earpieces can also be swiveled so you can monitor sound-recording with one ear and assess the live sound with the other. Quite honestly I think they are better than the Sony MDR-7502 headphones (which feature the same physical design, but are 2-3 times more expensive). I owned a pair of MDR-7502s but traded them in for MDVR-150s.

MDVR-150s might not as physically durable as more expensive Sony pro headphones, but they are hardly flimsy either, and they can be replaced cheaply. A great buy for the money!
