View Full Version : HDV footage getting best output quality?

I have HDV footage taken with the sony HC1.

What is the best way to get the best footage output that goes onto DVD?

I was thinking of new project HDV 1080 50I, do my editing etc....

render the project out as HDV again (native?)

Then I have my completed project still in HDV I can record back to tape to back-up.

Then to burn DVD I can render the project out as DVD? Or am I better using Canopus Pro Coder and converting the HDV to DVD through there?

My current set-up is P4 3.0ghz, 1Gb of ram, 128mb PCIE video card, 400gb of hard disk space. Am I able to edit HDV footage with such system? I know I might have to get another 1gb of ram.

Also does anyone recommend in using RAID 0 for editing? I have the RAID option on my motherboard and I am not sure if I really need to go that way? I was thinking if I did was to put 2x 250gb IDE hard drives as Master/Slave and use the other RAID port for normal IDE devices.

Should I go to RAID or not? Or is the speed of editing only determined by the amount of RAM and CPU speed?

I was also suggested to only use 60min of footage per 4.7gb of DVD to get best results. So basically 1 tape 1 DVD.
