View Full Version : Can Sony Camcorder create Full size DVD's Connected to DVD Recorder?
jlienard
I'm very interested in the DVD405 but think the mini DVD's (20-30 minutes) are limiting. I do not have a DVD burner on my PC (only CD burner) but would like to copy the mini's to a full size DVD. Can this camcorder connect to a external DVD Recorder or add an External DVD burner to my PC?
Also can you stack the contents of mini DVD's to a full size DVD using a recorder?
Can you connect the camcorder directly to your TV to view the contents of the mini DVD if someone does not have a DVD player?
Tks,
Jim

Joe - I am not sure that the answer to part 1 of question 1 is "Yes."

Clearly you can add an External DVD burner to your PC, but connecting the camcorder to an extrenal DVD recorder?
I do not have a stand-alone DVD recorder, so perhaps this is possible. If so, I would be very interested in the models that can accomplish this. How does this work with formatting the disc and finalizing. I am thinking this is not possible.

Probably not the best solution as there will be an unknown amount of video quality loss but certainly the easiest way.

I am thinking this is not possible. The Sony DCR-DVD405 camcorder can be plugged straight into standalone DVD recorders using the supplied cable or optional digital cable. I’ve tried it with a cheap Samsung DVD-R120 standalone DVD recorder and it worked good. :)

I see, so the DVD recorder basically recorders a video/audio stream and you end up with a file of whatever type your recorder records?
That makes sense!
