Hello all,
Here in Brazil, Panasonic releasead that camcorder as NV-GS180PL-S:
http://www.panasonic.com.br/descricao.asp?A3=511&A1=113&A2=127
It is NTSC. The "PL" refers to English/Spanish/French menu, right? And the "S", what does it mean?

Why would a Brazilian camera have English/Spanish/French menus? I would have thought it would have Portuguese. Maybe "PL" is for Portuguese? I haven't a clue what the "S" is for.
From what I can tell Brazil uses both NTSC and PAL-M. The cam you have with the "NV" prefix is, if I read Guy's nomenclature article correctly, a PAL cam.
Good luck.

Dennis, I hope that the "S" be an addend, meaning that there is a Portuguese menu available. But I wouldn't be surprised if the camcorder has only foreign languages menus, unfortunately this is very usual on electronics sold here.
I understood that Panasonic applies the "NV" prefix to products released outside of the US, regardless of their TV system. PAL-M is the format used here for open tv broadcasting systems, but some cable TV systems have switched to NTSC. So I believe that only VCR's still have to support PAL-M and NTSC, camcorders recording only on NTSC have been released since the "analog days".
My main concern about that NV-GS180PL-S was about different features between it and PV-GS180, specially the inputs for external microphone and headphones. The Brazilian Panasonic website is very economic on detailing features, but I think that they are the same camcorders.
