Hi all, great forum.
I have a Sony dvd403 and appox. 20 8cm dvds that I would like to combine into 12cm dvds. I bought Ulead DVD MovieFactory 5 (at the suggestion of a sales clerk) but have had no luck burning the dvds to play in my stand alone dvd player. They play in the computer but I get an error of "wrong disc" when I play them on the stand alone player. I'm using dvd+rw mini discs and dvd-rw 12cm discs (both of which are compatible with my dvd player. Has anyone used DVD MovieFactory 5 to combine mini discs and any helpful tips would be appriciated.

Welcome to the forum. I don't recall anyone mentioning that program.

There is a "sticky" at the top of this forum that details a few methods for combining multiple miniDVDs into a full-size DVD.

I've not used Movie Factory but have heard good things about it.
When you play the DVD in your computer, does the menu show and work like it would on a DVD player?
If it does, it means that you have authored the DVD correctly in Movie Factory and the problem is probably the DVD. Some players are not compatible with certain brands of DVD. You could try burning at a lower speed, or failing that, try a different brand of DVD.

Thanks for the comments, I'll have to double check to see if the menus came up normally on the computer as it's been a few weeks since I last tried it. I have read all the "stickies" posted but with different programs come different menu options, and I'll be the first to admit I'm no tech. wizard. I think I had th burn speed set down to only 2x but I'm not sitting in front of my home computer now to check. I'll try again with a different format disc and check the menus. Thanks for the help "mfa" and "jomike".

Hi again, I thouhgt I should reply to let everyone know my findings. I had been trying for weeks to combine 3-8cm dvds to 1-12cm dvd using Uleads Movie Factory 5, and I was able to successfully burn a full size dvd with a common menu, but could not get it to play in our set top dvd player. Well, after the comments here I decided to try my dvd on another player and it works. As Jomike said my dvd player wouldn't play the dvd even though it said it played -rw dvd's. We do have very inexpensive home dvd players (we have 3 young boys that have already gone thru 3 dvd players) and this may have been part of the problem. The Ulead movie Factory seems to have done a good job with only slight quality loss noticable in fast motion only. I am now in the market for a new home dvd player, and many more hours playing NOT SLAVING in front of the computer to finish converting the remaining discs. I may even try some minor editing. Thanks again to this forum and to all who helped.

I am now in the market for a new home dvd player I've had real good luck with Toshiba DVD players. :)
