Songsting
I've never owned a camcorder, but will buy a panasonic one in the next week or so. The Panasonic VDR-D400 came out here (I live in Japan) about a month ago. I have read lots of great stuff on this site, reviews, comments etc about the D300, but I guess the D400 hasn't been released in most countries yet.
Do you think it is safe to assume that if the D300 is great (as reviews seem to indicate), that the D400 will be at least AS good in all ares, with perhaps some improvements in some areas? Or, is there a chance that some performance aspects might have slipped in the new model? I know that the D400 has 20x optical zoom as opposed to 10x on the D300, but I don't know if there are any other differences.
The price difference here is about $150 or $200 between the 2 models. So, what do you think? Take a gamble with the "unreviewed" D400, or stick to the older, but cheaper and acclaimed D300?
