I would like to pass on my experence using this HDV camera.
I film the News for the 4 major TV networks in Perth, Australia.
Before buying the JVC I used the Sony DVCAM 570w.
The Sony was an excellent proformer over 3 hard years.
But the JVC has won me over,
Pros:
Fantastic Full Auto Mode
Focus Assist is simply brilliant.
Light weight yet solid construction.
Outstanding picture quality, even in SD DV mode.
The included lenz is pro all the way but do miss the Doubler on the Sony.
Cons:
NEVER EVER EVER Plug in the DV cable with Cam or Computer on !!!
Only use SONY DVM60 Tapes (red & Black).
Only press the outer Tape door NOT inner metal tape holder.
Recommendations:
Buy the IDX battery system, Long rec time, Light/HDD power outlet.
Build or buy a rear bracket for Tripod mounting Plate.
Use the FAS mode (ok don't tell anyone, but use it ).
