Sharp VL-C750

I have just purchused this camera i have to say it seems quite old 90's most probly it is a VHSC camcorder.It did not come with a battery or a chrager but i have powered it up because it has a d/c input, but when i look through the lens i get no picture at all, but i think the camera works because when its set to auto focus you can see the lens turning to focus. any body got any idea's what could be up with it? do i just need to put a tape in do you think?

the more i think about it, maybe i need to just put a tape? maybe with vhsc you had to have a tape in to even view stuff through your lense. what do people think?

Danny, I don't have much specific advice but will make some comments.

There is a lot that can go wrong with a camcorder.

The lens moving when it is set to auto focus doesn't really mean the camera is not operational. There are a variety of items that could be bad.

It appears the Sharp VL-C750 is a VHS-C camera so you would have to get a VHS-C tape which are still being made. They look like miniature VHS tapes.

I a lot of VHS video cameras from the 80's would show an image without a tape in the unit, but I don't know if your camera requires a tape for the viewfinder to turn on, but I doubt it.

I don't know if you even have a manual for the camera. It may need to be re-set, it may require an internal battery to be replaced.

Okay i understand, do you think it is worth buying a battery for the camera? or you think i should take it to camera fixer? i mean it only cost me £9.00 so i dont see out wrong in taking it apart haha. but what yah think?

If you can find a camera shop that can look at it for free, that would be good. You may be shocked at what it costs to repair camcorders.
