View Full Version : Can the hour counter be reset on dvc30?

Juanillo
Hi,

I am new to this forum and new to the dvc30 (this is my first post). I just bought a dvc30 with 25 hours on the counter and its two years old. I am wondering if they reseted the counter (if that is possible) or the hours on the counter are real. The camera seems to be used a little but not much. What is not working is the charger. Thus, my concern.

Thanks in advanced,

Juan

I don't think there is a way to reset the counter. It wouldn't surprise me if the battery is dead after 2 years if it's not charging or holding a charge. Is that the problem?

The battery is working fine. The ac adapter works, but it does not charge the batteries. I just bought a generic charger and the batteries charge. Thus, it is not the batteries.
I just wanted to make sure that there is no way to reset the counter because the camera is in great shape, but the oem charger doesnt charge, it only works as a ac adapter.

I can't imagine there is any way the counter could be reset. I don't think any camera manufacturer would allow this. If one were able to reset the counter, then every used cam on the market would have 1 hour on it. hahaha. There's not much to the charger but I guess it could break. If the camera looks like it only has 25 hours on it and works like new, then I wouldn't worry about it. I'd get out there and shoot some video, like golden hour video and post it in our video theme thread.

Hi Juanillo

Maybe you already know this and tried it, but you can't have the camera cable connected into the charger if you are going to charge the battery. This will disable the charger function.

There is no way the user can reset this counter. It is for service information as to how many hours the video heads have. After servicing the tech is able to go into service mode on the camera and reset it if he replaced the videos heads.

This would really have nothing to do with the charger not charging the batteries. And to add to the above post, as this may sound like a stupid thing to say, the batteries have to be on the charger to charge not in the camera and the cable from the charger to the camcorder must not be plugged into the charger. It is a standalone unit.
