View Full Version : PV-GS39 and Adobe Premiere Elements 2 Connections

I just purchased the Panasonic PV-GS39 palmcorder and my computer doesn't recognize the video file I recorded. I am using a firewire cable and the camcorder is set to the "PC" setting and the screen displays "PC Connection Screen".

My computer with Windows XP, SP2 has a firewire card and 1394 connection. Premiere Elements 2 does not recognize the camcorder, but Windows sees the "Panasonic DV Camcorder" folder, but there is no file when I go into the folder. I know the video file exists because I can see it during play back on the camcorder. My computer does recognize the SD Card files.

I verified my computer has the IEEE 1394 Bus Host Controller -> OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controler. I even deleted it, rebooted my computer to recreate the connection. I also made sure I have the latest DirectX version.

From what I read so far, my computer should have recognized the camcorder video file once I connected the firewire cable.

What am I doing wrong? Am I missing a driver?

In case anyone wants the solution, I had to put the camcorder on "Playback" and Premiere Elements on "Capture" mode. :D
