TRV-38 in wide-screen mode-quality?

I have seen some similar threads but didn't really see this question answered for the TRV-38, so here goes: If I shoot on the TRV-38 in 16:9 (widescreen mode), will the quality of the DV footage be worse than if I shot in non-widescreen? If so, is that because the camera is not using all the pixels it should? I understand it is still NTSC (in terms of the number of lines and pixels), but will the footage look worse in quality than not using the 16:9 mode?
