Seaking
Interesting.. The IR light on the DVC30 works great and throws enough IR light to do a reasonable job indoor at a short distance but someone asked me if something could be done about the two red glowing lights in front of the camera, this isn't a huge problem but consider if you're going to be doing surveillance work or don't want the crowd to know your camera is on.
Last night I tested out no-visible IR Lights that actually worked well enough to pursue the project. Smaller LEDs than what's on the camera, you blank off the front camera's IR lights so they don't show and these new IR Lights shine just as well but you simply do not see them. Totally.. You can't tell if they are on or not.. Interesting little set up.
I'm still playing with it to see how much more illumination I can get from them but the idea works well.
After I'm done with this one, then the next thing is to build my own long range IR light, these will be visible as it's easier and cheaper to build.
These won't be anything 'pretty' to look like but fall into the guerrilla class of DIY =)
When I get it all set up and field usable, I'll post some samplers.. it's kinda cool..
