View Full Version : DVD403 finalize issue

Joe67
I have the DVD403 and am using the Sony DVD-R discs.

I have shot plenty of discs with no issues. Sometimes I finalize with a charged battery and everything has been great until today.

yesterday I took some important video. I ran until the full disc indicator just started flashing, around 28 minutes. At that time I removed the disc to use a second one.

Turns out, I did not shoot any more video. Today I replace the DVD-R I recorded on yesterday, during the finalize process, it only asked me to enter a disc title, no other options. I entered a title and let it finalize.
During the process (no cord, just charged battery), it had an error (not sure what it said).

Now it treats the DVD-R as a new disc, it shows no errors when I put it in and acts like it is new/unused.

I have read a few threads, reset the camera and nothing.

What are some things I can do to retrieve this important footage??

Regards - Joe

I'm reading there may be issues recording so close to a full disc. I have others that have been recorded this far and those finalized fine.

This is my daughters 1st birthday - can anyone provide any info that might help me out? :(

Hi
I remember that someone has reported a similar problem in the past and could recover the clips with a special recovering sw. I think that this software was even freeware.
All I can recommend is to search this forum for "recover" and try to find that thread.

Thank you, I will take a look

The software seems to be isobuster

Searching I found this thread: http://www.camcorderinfo.com/bbs/t126276.html

I'll download that and take a look.

Anyone else have other suggestions?
Can anyone recommend professional services in the Metro Detroit, Michigan area?

Thanks.

I am not sure but perhaps it is this thread:

At least a user mentions a free recover software there that solved his problem with lost files on a camcorder harddisk.

I was about to run the Mini DVD through isobuster and loaded it into the camera one last time.

It came up with a disc error C:13:02

Does that mean anything significant?

Joe67
2.5 hours and it is still copying the image to my computer - is that bad?

I see C:13:02 means my DVD may be dirty, etc. I'll inspect it once the image is copied...
