Imacer
I would like to use Sony tapes for my camcorder. What the better ones for my camcorder. I have used Sony DVC Premium 60 min (blue label) with past camcorders. What is your opionion about this tape. Or what is a better Sony tape. For video. thanks everybody...

I have used the Sony DVC Premium 60 min (blue label) tapes for all my Sony camcorders since buying my first TRV10 in 1998 and through buying my TRV80 and PC330. I have never had a problem with the tapes or dropouts. I don't think you can go wrong staying with them.
I usually pick one tape brand and type and stick with it. :-) There have been been some opinions/controversies over the years that changing brands and thus tape lubricants back and forth can cause your video heads to be come dirtier quicker.

I have been buying all Sony DVC brand tapes. They are a bit more expensive, and i have always been tempted to buy the $2 60 pack of TDK MiniDV tapes next to the $13 3 pack of sony tapes...but then i remembered that TDK has a lousy history of magnetic media production.
I dont really buy the whole lubricant story, but it does not hurt to buy brand name tapes. Its digital, so you wont notice at first....maybe a few years down the line when the signal drops off enough to noise up the video you will be able to tell.

As maokh said - its all digital, there is no better/worse image quality between the tapes. I use the Sony Premium 60min.
There is a difference between the mechanical noise of the tapes while recording - i testet this here (http://babelfish.altavista.com/babelfish/trurl_pagecontent?lp=de_en&trurl=http%3a%2f%2fwww.hc96.de%2findex.php%3foption%3dcom_content%26task%3dview%26id%3d20%26Itemid%3d42) and found TDK best.

I will be getting my HC96 today. I bought a 3 pack of the Premium Sony DVC 60 min tapes yesterday. On Sony's site today I see they also have an 'Excellence' level tape (purple package). Any need to buy these over the blue 'Premium' tapes?
Also, what about the DVM-12CLD cleaning cassette? How often should I use that?
