Im using VISTA.. and sony is not planning to offer an update to support the USB feature for the handycam.. I wasd wondering if you have to install an internal card for the i.link cable?

Firewire, iLink and IEEE-1394 are the same thing.

If your computer does not have Firewire you can install a Firewire card. Any OHCI compliant Firewire card should work. Price does not seem to be a factor. Here are some which seem to be popular.
