View Full Version : Best mini DV tapes to use??

spencergeoff
I have recently have my circuit board fixed in my xl1s, and bought some new sony mini dv tapes. but every so often the recording pixelates on playback. it has done this on several of the new tapes.

Does anyone have a preferred mini dv tape they use?

I have tried the sony excellence tape which is almost 3 times the price but was put off because the one i bought had a small fold/crease in the first 10 seoconds of tape.

Could i have just bought from a bad batch of tapes? Does anyone use a brand that is reliable, consistent and that they swear by?

Cheers

I'll bite.

Sony Premium's $2.99 at Tape Resources.com when you buy 5.

Been using 'em for years with not a single issue on over 20 Canon cameras.

I have a Sony VX-2100 and use the Sony tapes. Does Canon makes tapes? I use what recommended for the camera. Different lubrications and such. Guess it's like motor oil, find somethg good and stick with it. The Sony tapes work well, I always run the tape about a minute or 2 of video before starting and never go to the end. Stop a few minutes to avoid stretching and such. Just my opinio.
