View Full Version : exporting 16:9 to Final Cut Express

Having trouble importing 16:9 footage from a canon GL2 into Final Cut Express. The very 1st 2 seconds on the DV tape were shot in standard - and that seems to be the only way that FCE will import the footage (despite the next 50 minutes of 16:9 footage). If I start the capture at a position after the 4:3 footage - it still captures 4:3. I've also attempted recording over the initial 4:3 footage with 16:9, and it still will only import it as 4:3.

I'm positive the footage in there IS 16:9, when i capture it using a Pinnacle studio on a PC - it captures it as 16:9.

Any ideas on why it would do this?

hmm it sounds like you might just have the wrong Capture preset selected in FCE, with my dealings with FCE and 16:9 some times its picky about what your settings are I would try and go to the audio video settings in the Final Cut Express Menu up in the task bar, then go to the capture presets. Then select DV NTSC 48 kHz Anamorphic. This should record the footage on the tape in 16:9. I hope that works for you.
