View Full Version : Help: Can NOT Import AVCHD footage from Panansonic HDC-DX1 using Nero 7 Ultra

This is my first post here but I'm hoping someone can help me. I just bought this Panasonic HDC-DX1 and I've been shooting some test footage. I have the Nero 7 Ultra Enhanced, which is the latest version available for download, that says it supports the AVCHD format. I can't import any AVCHD footage from my camcorder though. I'm using Nero Vision 4 which is a part of the Nero 7 suite. I get an error message when I select the DVD-ROM drive of the camcorder to locate the AVCHD footage I want to import. I get one of two errors depending how I'm trying to import. Error 1: "No appropriate disk was recognize in recorder". Error #2: "Disk Not Formated: Windows can not read from disk. The disk might be corrupted, or it could be using a format that is not compatible with windows."

I've called Panasonic tech support and based on their "Tier I" support analysis they said it's a Nero software problem. I'm not so sure but I don't have any other software the supports AVCHD to prove them wrong. I'm going to buy the Pinnacle v11 to determine if it's software or the camcorder but I don't have it yet. The camcorder does communicate with my PC via USB because I can pull off the still pic's I shot with the camcorder off the SD card but the SD card is recognized as a removable hard drive. I'm running Win XP SP2 and I've tried this on my desktop PC and my laptop and I still get the same error. I'm using Panasonic DVD-RW media and I've finalized the disk from the camcorder.

Help if you can.

The disks on the DX1 are formatted using UDF 2.5 (Blu-ray) and you need special drivers that are not included in WinXP in order to read the disk. I had to use ISOBuster to extract the video from the minDVD disks. I understand that Nero InCD has the right drivers but I haven't tested it.

IT WORKED. Thanks for that tip. I was able to pull down some video from my camcorder after I went back to setup and added Nero InCD. There might still be something strange going on though. I originally did not install the Nero InCD when I installed Nero the first time. After I installed Nero InCD and then connected the camcorder the first time, for some reason it Blue-screened my laptop. After I rebooted my laptop, I left my camcorder connected and the next time Windows started I could see the DVD-ROM of the camcorder as a DVD-RAM drive. Before it it showed up as another CD-ROM drive. Now I'm able to add the AVCHD video to my Nero Vision project using the "Add Video" option but it won't import the video using the "Import AVCHD" option. Seems strange to me. Before I installed the Nero InCD I couldn't even see the contents of the DVD-ROM of the camcorder but now I can see the directory structure and all the files.

Thanks

I have the same problem including using the trial version of Ulead11 with windows unable to recognise the disc.

Have you had any luck yet with other software?
