View Full Version : Saving Clip From Timeline?

I've been working on a trial of 3.0 for a while now, and have one last question which I didn't see the answer to in the "help" section. Can I drag a clip from the timeline to where the media is? In other words, I'd like to set a clip aside (from the timeline) for later use. Can this be done?

I'm assuming you mean a clip that has been edited since the original full and unchanged clip is already in the media bin. I can offer what I believe is accurate. I've never really explored all the features of elements and I don't have V3.

As far as I know, I think the best you can do is to move the clip up higher on the timeline for later use in the same project only unless you want to save it as a new clip which of course will use up hard drive space also.

Adobe Premiere Pro 2 will allow for nesting clips in sequences. Its actually a tabbed timeline that allows for as many tabs as you like, each one being a seperate timeline which is also saved in the media bin. But Elements can't do that, you have to either save the edited clip or move it to another timeline # after you edit it and then save the project.

OK, that answers my question....THANKS!
I went ahead and ordered Elements 3.0 which should work fine for me. If I keep at this video stuff :) , I'll step up to the pro version eventually.
