I was contacted by someone to film a birthday party for their child and then edit it and output onto DVD. This isn't a family friend or anything, just someone who heard I do video work. I do some work but I have yet to get into charging people for my work. What does anyone think would be a good price for this service?

I do some work but I have yet to get into charging people for my work. What does anyone think would be a good price for this service?

Be upfront and explain that although your good, you never did a live event. Charge them $50-75 for tapes/DVDs and have fun. If they like it and want more DVD, charge $5 each. Take as much footage as you can. You should be able to deliver a good product and get a referrence.
