varizoom VZ-Rocker

Has anyone used this item or know more about it?

Where does it actually install? Focus and zoom on one control.. But I do like what they say about the heads coming off the tape when in pause mode.

Is it easy to use, worth the bucks? Worthwhile kit to have?

On the DVC30 the remote jack is in the rear below the power/mode switch at the very bottom.As I understand it on the Dvc30 the wired remote will only do REC/PAUSE and ZOOM in/out.
I found this article while looking for a remote for my DVC30.

I built this project similar to the authors and it seems to work very nicely.Controlling the zoom with a knob is a different feeling,but it gives a very nice control of the speed of the zoom.
If your handy with these kind of projects I would recommend it,and being an electronic junk collector it cost me practically nothing.

Sweet, many thanks for sharing that little gem! That would be a nifty gadget for pole mounting your camera where you can see the view screen but can't reach the controls.. (held high above heads in a crowd)..
