View Full Version : Has Anyone Got HDR-HC1 to work in Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 6.0

norm90012
I have a Sony HDR-HC1 camcorder. I am trying to use Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 6.0 Full Version to capture some videos. First of all I have tried to read all the posts from the sony camcorder and also from the vegas software forum and no help.

I have windows XP Professional with the SP2 loaded 3.0Ghz processor.

I am getting a message saying I have "NO Device Selected".
My settings for the HDR-HC1 are: VCR HDV/DV = HDV
I Link Conv = Off

But when I change my settings to: VCR HDV/DV = DV
I Link Conv = On
HDV to DV

In Vegas Software
Then Capture video: USE EXTERNAL VIDEO CAPTURE APPLICATION
(DV, video for windows, or third party capture application)

I am able to get the software to work.......

When I use the: USE INTERNAL VIDEO CAPTURE APPLICATION
(HDV)

No Device selected!

I tried control panel - system - hardware - device manager
and the HDR-HC1 comes under the Image device
and recognizes it as a sony dv camcorder.

IEEE 1394 Bus host Controllers
Texas Instruments OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller
Sound,video and game controllers

Please advise me on how I can get my HDR-HC1 to capture video in HDV format to Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 6.0 without getting the message "no device selected" .

Thanks in advance!

Any help is appreciated.....

Just saw your post. If you have not had success yet.

Start VMS P6

File > Capture Video

Capture window opens in lower left of screen.

Upper right of capture window, click on Prefs.

A Capture Preferences window opens.

Click on the Device tab.

The camcorder should be plugged into the IEEE 1394 port and turned on.

Device Type: Select IEEE 1394
Device: Select HDR - HC1

That should do it. The controls in the capture window should now control the camcorder.

Good Luck.
