View Full Version : Help: Last clip on DVD-RW discs corrupt!
andreab
The same thing has happened to two of my Sony DVD-RW discs. The last clip (last two clips on one disc) will neither play correctly using the camcorder (freezes) nor will they transfer to my computer using Picture Package.
I do not know what the reason for this is. The only thing I can think of may be fat stains from my fingers at the outer part of the discs (aren't the discs read from the center and out?), but I can't believe that should have such an impact.
Has anyone experienced this?
Thanks,
Andreas

Yes, they are read from inside to outside. Have you looked at the disc from different angles to see if there are any blemishes on it? If so, try wiping them off in the radial direction with a soft tissue.
In the 2+ years that I've been on the forum, there seem to be several times more problems with "RW" discs than with write-once "R" discs. I use the -R discs exclusively.

Yes,
it happened to me a couple of times in about 30 disks. I don't know if it a question of RW or + or - or just a question of the camera recorder head being clean and properly aligned. You could ask SoOny but they will pobably give you a blanket statement blaming the blank DVDs especially if they are not Sony.
I did not find any solution for recovering those clips.

Have either of you tried solutions that lancecarr, and I suggested in this thread: "Tips for recovering videos/photos from bad/corrupted DVDs (http://www.camcorderinfo.com/bbs/t136219.html)"?
I think both are worth trying. Especially if those clips are important for you... Good luck!
