View Full Version : Compressing files

I am wanting to compress files from final cut pro onto my computer to burn them to a dvd that will play in a consumer dvd player and still keep the quality i.e 24fps and 16:9 aspect ratio. I converted the files into an avi format and it looked like crap. Also on 45 minutes would fit onto a 120 minute dvd and would not play in my dvd player. Could someone please tell me how this could be accomplished using final cut pro. keeping the frame rate, aspect ratio quality and fitting onto a dvd to play in my dvd player at home. Thank you

I do not know your software but...

At highest quality, ~8Mbps video, a single-layer DVD-R only holds about 60 minutes.

I'm still fighting my own conversion factors -- a video that just showed red-bleed on my old TV looks like it was animated Legos on my new TV... Yet using the software player in my computer, the same disk looks great. Commercial DVD looks great on the new TV, even at nearly half the bit-rate, and even the DVD tuner/recorder when set for 2-hour mode looked better.
