View Full Version : Next wave of SDHC cams?

Hello,

I recently took advantage of some (really good) Black Monday discounts at Circuit City to buy/try the SD5 (I have a GS320 right now). Unfortunately, our living room where I'd be likely to do a lot of filming of our youngster is a little dark, and the test video I shot came out pretty grainy. Other than that must-have feature, I really love everything else about the SD5 (the small form factor is really fantastic).

I also just got a panasonic blu-ray player that supports SDHC cards for AVHDC playback, so the SD5 would have been awesome.

So my question is, are there any rumored new releases coming out in the Panasonic camp (I know the SD7 is in Japan, but not sure it improves over the SD5 much in low light?) Perhaps at CES in January?

Thanks for any info, hopefully the next generation will push me to the all digital world!

Hi
Try to get the predecessor model SD1. It has a larger sensor and therefore should be better in low-light.

Medawky
The SD1 and the SD3 had larger imagers, 3 x 1/4" which yielded better low light performance. They cut down on the SD5 and SD7 which is both 3 x 1/6" i believe.

But whichever HD camcorder u go for in the future, at that size, none of them will produce a perfect picture in low light.
