Adobe Premiere Elements 3.0 – Can anyone suggest a fix for this problem please?
The program had been working OK for weeks but suddenly froze when I was adding some narration. I closed down the program and tried to re-start it but would not fully launch. I got an error message saying it could not load an audio driver and telling me to re-install Premiere Elements 3.0 and start again. I have done that but get the same old problem.
I’ve been in touch with Adobe tech help over the last week but they haven’t been able to give me a solution. I have Sigma Tel High Definition Codec on my PC and am running XP Home Edition. I have re-installed the audio driver but the problem persists. The strange thing is that other programs using the audio function seem to work OK, including Windows Movie Maker! I haven’t noticed any other problems with my PC.
Can someone make my Christmas with an answer to this problem – other than scrapping Premiere Elements 3.0 ?
Thanks

Hi. audio related program freezes with this bloated Adobe code seems to be relatively common place.

The specifics of your problem will no doubt be known by the folks at the Adobe Premiere Elements forum at Adobe.com

I'm sure asking your question there will net a speedy answer.

Good luck.

Another option is the forum at http://muvipix.com/phpBB3/

Without knowing much about your computer or even what operating system you're using, it's hard to give specific advice, but if you've been depending on Microsoft Update to provide you the latest Sigma Tel drivers, that could be part of the problem.

Make sure you get the latest (latest as in within the last three weeks) drivers right from Sigma Tel. Unfortunately, this gets a little convoluted because Sigma Tel has recently sold off its PC audio support IDT.

Also unfortunately, the site is not at all intuitive, when it comes to offering you the latest drivers. But, as we often say at Muvipix.com, if something used to work and then suddenly stopped, the most likely reason is because Windows updated, which left your drivers obsolete.

You may also want to update Quicktime, believe it or not. The last couple versions of it caused a lot of people problems.

But update, update, update your drivers and firmware! That solves the vast majority of these types of problems.
