View Full Version : How do I share HY my Def movies ?
Willpower
I am looking at purchasing a Sony HDRSR11. What I don't understand is ho I will share my High Definition movies with my friends? At the moment I shoot in SD, render in Sony Vegas and Burn to a DVD with Sony DVD Architect. EASY.
Am I right in understanding that my new HD clips will be rendered to Standard Definition unless I put them on to BLUE RAY disk via a Blue Ray Burner? Is Blue Ray Disk the only way to share my High Def Movies?

* Burn to Blu-ray disk in HD, watch on a Blu-ray player
* Burn to a regular DVD in HD, watch on a Blu-ray player
* Burn to a regular DVD in HD, watch on a HD DVD player
* Record onto a D-VHS deck
* Watch on a computer
* Watch on a TV from a computer
* Save back onto the camera and watch from the camera

Thanks for your reply jockey.
I didn't know I could record HD footage to a standard DVD disk.
I have a DVD player that upgrades to 1080 via a HDMI cable to a HD TV. Will this play my HD footage via dvd disks properly?

No. DVD players do not play HD.

It can be done but please be aware that you won't get much video on a regular DVD-5. I forget exactly how much it is but I seem to think it is in the 20 minute range. You save by not needing the burner but you still need the player.
Good luck.
