upgrade SD1 bitrate

Hi, sometimes i really don't understand some brands. I have the SD1 and i love it, i think has all i need and nicely to find it. Now with fast computers and big Sd cards this camera works very well.

I saw new panasonic AVCHD cameras but with smaller sensor and small camera that makes complicated to use with a big hand. i don't understand why...if SD1 goes so well why make it worst?

Anyway the only problem of the SD1 is the limited bitrate of the AVC codec, it's 13mb only and now the new ones has 17mb...

My question is can be SD1 upgraded by firmware? going to 13mb to 17mb like the SD9 for example?

1. Make it smaller.

2. Reduce features so you can make it cheaper but still increase your profits.

3. Change some specifications to make it look better.


I really doubt the SD1 can be upgraded.

How many consumer camcorders have had "Firmware Upgrades" in the last 10 years? I can only remember one. I may have missed a few.

Do not pay attention to the bit rate, look at real tests and real video samples....
