View Full Version : HV30 and blurry film
CoronadoGal
I took my new HV30 with me to Yosemite last week. I shot a bunch of footage, captured with HVsplit and edited with PE4. During the editing process I noticed that my footage didn't seem as clear and crisp as those shown on Vimeo. My film looks blurry and the letters on the signs are not clear. I checked to be sure it was on AUTOMATIC and HDV. Is there something else I should check? The quality of the film is about the same as that taken with a Flip. Shouldn't it be more clear and crisp than a much cheaper camcorder? (http://www.theflip.com/products.shtml)

Did you use 60i or 24p or 30p. Also leaving it in Auto is not a good idea. Another reason may be related to auto focusing. Auto focus can sometimes focus objects that you didn't intend to shoot. After you get use to your camcorder, you will get much better results.
BTW what are the properties of your finished video. Did you downconvert it to SD or is it still HD. Maybe something went wrong during editing. You shouldn't be able to compare a video shot with Flip to HV30/20.
