MTS File format?

Can the owners of the HF10 or the HF100 tell me how they work with the MTS file format that these models create?

When I tried to work with this format, I had to change the file extension to .MPG. Is there a way to work with the .MTS file format where you do NOT have to rename the file extension?

Latest versions of Vegas pro and MSP and Studio 11.5 (and the new 12) work fine with the files dragged off the cam or SD card.

If you mean to just play the files then i use MPC with coreAVC.

I currently have the k-lite codec package installed. If I install coreAVC, does that overwrite my previous codec package?

Can you play the MTS file natively in Windows Player Classic using the coreAVC codec or do you have to rename the file format?
