View Full Version : Arrgh! My HV20 isn't recognized

And I must lean on this Forum once again...

I'm having gads of trouble trying to get my HP Pavilion to recognize my HV20.

The guts I what I have on the PC are as follows:

Intel Pentium Dual-Core E2180
Processor Speed 2.0GHz
RAM 2048MB PC2-5300 DDR2 SDRAM
Hard Drive Speed/Capacity 500GB 7200RPM Serial ATA
Graphics NVIDIA GeForce 7100 nForce 630i Chipset
Pre-loaded Operating System Windows Vista Home Premium

Software is (trial/latest version) of Sony Vegas Platinum. IT says "can't open the Canon HV20."

1394 Firewire connection, but maybe...an insufficient wire???

After scanning the Net, thought it might be an issue w/ drivers, but Vsansal reports (in a recent post here) of no probs running w/ Vista and the HV20 for the past year.

HELP!!!

Try capturing with HDV Split which is a free and a very useful software. It doesn't matter which software you use to capture the quality won't change.

Thanks a ton. Will try later today and report back. :)

Well, HDV Split starts to capture, but cuts out, camera stops, all after about 2 seconds.

Missing driver(s)? perhaps.

I'm going to dig for other capture options later today. I best take a break, I'm close to bailing on HD.

Now I just feel silly...

The WMM version that came with the HP can handle HD capture!~ :)

I'm back in biz, and my BP is returning to normal.

That is the benefit of Vista. WMM in XP cannot deal with HD.
