View Full Version : HV30 noise?

LLJon
I was going to buy an HV30, but heard that the mic picks up alot of noise during recoding to the tape. Is it that noisy? Would a HF100 be better?
How do I download the home movies to a DVD?

When shooting indoors and very quiet places it may pickup motor noise but you can adjust the mic level. In quiet places any camcorder will pick up some sort of noise. it may be your breathing, noises caused by your hand while holding the camcorder, zooming etc. using an external directional mic will eliminate most of it.

to transfer it to DVD there are several methods. One method is transferring your video to your computer, editing it and burning it to a DVD. You can also use standalone DVD burners that will directly make a movie out of the camcorder. First method gives you much more control over how you want to shape your movie.

Best option is to eventually get an external mic. Not only will that cut out the noise, but it will massively improve the audio quality.

A HF100 won't suffer mic noise, but the AVCHD camcorders don't handle motion as well as the HDV camcorders (you get a lot more artefacts) so you'll be trading off mic noise for a big fall in picture quality when there's fast motion involved. On non / slow moving images there's little to choose between them in the picture department but can you always guarantee you won't want to record movement?
